more on The Dress

yay: the outer & inner fabric is sewn together and it fits AND looks like it will button.

boo: it also looks really puffy (and kinda makes me look fat, but I have yet to add several planned darts so hopefully that will go away), and I dunno *heavier* than I thought it would look... I'm not sure how to describe this at all.. I suspect a lot of the problem is to do with the fact that I took an unlined dress and bag-lined it but... yeah. Anyone got any advice on how to make it look sleaker? Ironing did help, and I'm contemplating sewing about 1/8" down the front... that helped my arming jacket look less puffy... can doing such a thing hurt? Does anyone have any other ideas, short of taking it apart & flat-liniing? (which is NOT happening)

How did I let this turn into such a project? Ah well. At least if it doesn't turn out quite how I had hoped, I can use this as an excuse to buy the fabulous light-blue linen I saw & do the dress again in that! (un-lined, as the only reason I lined this one was that the fabric was too thin to *not* line it!)
